About Me

My name is Hugh Piper and I’m a chef located in Orange, NSW. With over 15 years experience in award-winning Sydney restaurants, I recently decided to relocate to Orange to follow my passion for fresh and local produce. I'm eager to collaborate on custom dining experiences and events to showcase the region's wonderful produce.

I opened my first café at the young age of 22, and have since gone on to work in a wide range of respected venues, including the internationally renowned Astrid Y Gaston in Lima, Peru. While there, it was awarded Best Restaurant in South America and ranked 14th best in the world.

I really established myself as Head Chef of the award-winning wine bar, Dear Sainte Eloise in Potts Point, Sydney. During this time, I developed my European-inspired style, utilising and championing the best local produce on offer. I also periodically led the kitchen at the Darlinghurst institution, Love Tilly Devine.

Over the last couple of years, I have been hosting a series of events and dinners named Buena Vista Ceviche Club. These cult-following dinners have been a fantastic avenue to share my Peruvian heritage with enthusiastic guests. Keep up to date with all upcoming events here.

I’ve spent the last few months building relationships with local growers and producers in Orange and the Central West. My passion for fresh, local produce influences my cooking practice and I feel lucky to be surrounded by such quality in the region.

Let me help you create a beautiful dining experience, event, or curated menu showcasing the best of Orange and the Central West.
